Pope Francis will be discharged from the hospital on Sunday, doctors say
Briefly

Pope Francis will leave Rome's Gemelli Hospital after over five weeks, following successful treatment for a life-threatening respiratory infection. Although he faced two critical episodes, his condition improved enough for discharge. Doctors report that the pneumonia in both lungs is resolved but stress the need for a two-month recovery period at the Vatican. In his first public address post-hospitalization, he plans to bless a crowd outside the hospital. He has expressed gratitude to pilgrims for their prayers and support during his illness.
Today, we are happy to say that tomorrow he will be at home," Sergio Alfieri, the hospital's head of medicine and surgery, told journalists on Saturday night.
The holy father was never intubated and he always remained alert and oriented," Alfieri said.
I bless you and pray for you. And please: continue to pray for me too."
Bilateral pneumonia has been successfully treated, but time is needed for a complete recovery.
