Peel reports 1st human West Nile Virus this year | CBC News
Briefly

"While the overall risk of getting a West Nile virus infection is lower during the fall months, this case reinforces the importance of residents protecting themselves against mosquito bites," said Dr. Nicholas Brandon.
The Peel public health unit monitors West Nile virus across the region using 33 mosquito traps, which are tested weekly from June to September during peak infection periods.
Residents can protect themselves from West Nile virus by wearing long-sleeved clothing, applying Health Canada-approved insect repellent, and removing standing water from their properties.
