Harvard researchers might have found a way to prevent COVID, the flu-and maybe even the common cold
Briefly

The new nasal spray, which coats the inside of the nose, is designed to burst pathogen-filled droplets and capture the pathogen in a strong, gel-like matrix.
In preclinical studies, the spray was nearly 100% effective at preventing infections in mice, including various dangerous viruses and bacteria.
While existing nasal sprays offer limited efficacy, only capturing 20% to 70% of pathogens, this new formulation has three mechanisms of action for enhanced protection.
The researchers' nasal spray, called PCANS, not only neutralizes pathogens but also prevents their entry and captures respiratory droplets to improve overall safety.
