DR Congo expects first shipment of mpox vaccines to arrive on Thursday
Briefly

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is at the epicenter of an mpox outbreak, with over 17,500 cases and 629 deaths reported this year alone. WHO declares it a global health emergency.
Health Minister Samuel-Roger Kamba emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, 'We are in a health war against mpox. To face this disease, we need you, Congolese.'
Cris Kacita noted significant logistical challenges ahead of the vaccination rollout scheduled to begin on October 8, as the first shipment of nearly 100,000 mpox vaccine doses arrives.
UNICEF highlighted that children in the DRC and nearby regions are particularly vulnerable to mpox, prompting increased focus on vaccination efforts as cases rise across 13 African nations.
