Big drop in Covid deaths in Ireland last year, but highly infectious strain is fuelling winter infection surge

Nearly four years since the start of the pandemic, there have been 9,358 Covid-related deaths in this country.

There have been 23 Covid-related deaths among healthcare workers, according to the report from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).
