The Acaia Horizon Explores the Range of a Brewed Coffee
""It's an exciting new tool in the kit for coffee professionals and home enthusiasts to explore different flavor profiles and different elements of the structure of a coffee," Acaia marketing consultant Ben Bicknell stated. "Each coffee responds a little bit differently.""
"Bicknell noted that when experimenting with depressurized stints of 60 to 90 seconds, acidity becomes more integrated into the cup profile, mouthfeel grows silkier and smoother, and body becomes slightly heavier."
""Rather than adding new facets, it seems to be turning the volume up, and improving the clarity, of things that are already present in the coffee," Bicknell explained."
Acaia has introduced the Horizon, a post-extraction pressure modulation device designed to enhance the coffee drinking experience. Launched at the World of Coffee San Diego trade show, the Horizon is a cup-top vacuum sealer that creates a low-pressure atmosphere, preserving the coffee's aromatics and volatile compounds. This device influences the brew's sweetness, acidity, and mouthfeel, allowing coffee professionals and enthusiasts to explore different flavor profiles. The Horizon operates at approximately 0.4 bar pressure and features a timer for controlled experimentation.
