Killarney became the first town in Ireland to ban single-use coffee cups - here's how it's going

The rest of Ireland has looked on with curiosity in recent months as Killarney, Co Kerry became the first town to ban the use of single-use coffee cups.

Fifty businesses have embraced the initiative, with rubbish bags down by 30pc in some cases.

It is hoped that the initiative will remove more than one million single-use cups from local waste-disposal systems.
