Celebrating 5 Years, Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity Launches Fellowship
"This Fellowship is about doing the hard work of leadership in an industry that hasn't always seen us,"
"When you see people take flight, that is where the joy and hope live."
"This first group is setting the tone and building the community that will carry this work forward,"
The Coffee Coalition for Racial Equity launched the Brewing for Equity Fellowship to promote professional success for Black and Brown people in the coffee industry. The 10-month leadership program includes monthly sessions, a capstone project, a one-week industry immersion, and an optional trip to Ethiopia for the 2026 African Fine Coffees Association conference. The first cohort held a kickoff workshop in Atlanta and will culminate at First Sip! during World of Coffee San Diego in April 2026. Fellows include business owners, roasters, a production and training manager, a co-founder of community impact initiatives, and a coffee researcher and professor. CCRE began in 2020 and has expanded through awards and partnerships.
