The ASEAN Coffee Federation has introduced the ASEAN Coffee Appreciation Protocol (ACAP), designed to facilitate regional coffee evaluation and education among Southeast Asian professionals. This protocol serves as an alternative to the globally recognized Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) promoted by the SCA. Announced on May 16, the ACAP features six modules focused on various coffee appreciation aspects, allowing for evaluation from cultivation to brewing. Victor Mah, president of the ASEAN Coffee Federation, highlighted the initiative as a crucial step towards asserting Southeast Asia's position in the global coffee market.
Southeast Asia has long been a powerhouse in coffee production, and with ACI and ACAP, we are now taking ownership of how our coffee is valued on the global stage.
The ACAP protocol includes six modules, resulting in a score or flavor profile, covering coffee evaluation from seed to cup.
