The Power of Friendship Beckons Industry Heavyweights to Open a New West Town Bar
Briefly

Friends of Friends opened in West Town, marking the first ownership day for influential bartender Abe Vucekovich. The bar, situated at 2001 W. Grand Avenue, features a salvaged 11-seat bar from Brooklyn's Knitting Factory and offers a cozy atmosphere with a heated patio and fireplace. The bar plans to honor local tavern culture by reviving Danny's Tavern's soul night and hosting pop-ups featuring drinks from leading bartenders nationwide. This community-centric approach aims to create a dynamic space for both locals and cocktail enthusiasts.
The 11-seat bar was salvaged from the Brooklyn location of the Knitting Factory; the club closed in 2022. Friends of Friends co-owner Kevin Heisner spotted the opportunity while walking by.
Vucekovich, a celebrated bartender and co-owner of Friends of Friends, said that hosting bar pop-ups with friends running taverns across the country will bring exciting drink options.
Friends of Friends intends to regularly host a Danny's tribute, which could lead to a revival of the tavern's popular soul night, celebrating the local bar culture.
The bar features a 100-seat patio with heated floors for winter and a fireplace, providing a welcoming atmosphere with no TVs to distract patrons.
