White Sox unveil a graphic installation honoring Pope Leo XIV and his World Series appearance
Briefly

The Chicago White Sox dedicated a new landmark to Father Bob, the recently elected Pope Leo XIV, who attended Game 1 of the 2005 World Series. The tribute includes a graphic installation featuring a waving Pope Leo XIV and a TV broadcast image of him with friends. The team plans to further commemorate the specific seat he occupied. The future pope's ties to the team are highlighted by his friendship with longtime season-ticket holder Ed Schmit, emphasizing both the White Sox's legacy and Father Bob's character as a compassionate figure.
"When people come into the ballpark, it's an interesting piece of our history and they're going to want to see it," said Brooks Boyer.
"A lot of this is about the White Sox. It should be more about what kind of guy the pope is," Schmit said.
"He's been in places that are so poor, just trying to help other people," Schmit added regarding the future pope.
Mother Teresa told Father Bob that his mission was to uplift the poorest of the poor, a calling he has taken to heart.
