White Sox hero Bobby Jenks has stage 4 stomach cancer
Briefly

Former MLB closer Bobby Jenks is facing Stage 4 stomach cancer and is currently hospitalized in Portugal. Having recorded the last out of the 2005 World Series, Jenks shared his thoughts on fighting the illness, stating, "it's time to do what I got to do to get myself better." His health complications arose from blood clots and intense bleeding, leading to a diagnosis involving a tumor that has spread significantly. Additionally, Jenks faced personal challenges, losing family property in recent fires, which compounded his struggles during this critical time.
"Now it's time to do what I got to do to get myself better and get myself more time, however you want to look at it," the 43-year-old Jenks told MLB.com from his hospital bed.
"It's awful to think about," Jenks said. "It's just been a whirlwind."
"They are not going to put any numbers on it. I wouldn't even want numbers. You hear stories all the time, ‘Oh, they gave me six months, 25 years ago.’ I don’t buy into that."
Jenks underwent more tests and eventually a CT scan pinpointed that he had a tumor in the middle of his chest, which has now spread into his stomach lining, bones, hips and lower back.
