Chicago White Sox pitching coach Ethan Katz praised catchers Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero for their ability to absorb and apply coaching insights learned in team meetings. Despite being reassigned to minor-league camp, both players demonstrated promising performance during the Cactus League, with Teel showing a batting average of .294 and Quero at .250. Their potential is recognized by the coaching staff, with manager Will Venable expressing excitement about their development and contributions as respected prospects in the organization.
They've been like a sponge trying to learn information, Katz said Monday at Camelback Ranch. Nothing's really speeding up on them, and (they're) able to kind of comprehend and understand some of the concepts we're talking about.
For young guys to be where they are at currently, these guys are guys that are obviously highly-respected prospects and we're seeing now why that is. And excited about those guys.
