Paul Konerko received a signed jersey from Pope Leo XIV during a ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 2005 World Series championship run. Cardinal Blase Cupich presented the jersey featuring Konerko's last name and "Pope Leo" above the No. 14. Pope Leo XIV, a White Sox fan, was the first U.S. pope, elected on May 8. The White Sox honored late closer Bobby Jenks and unveiled a statue of Mark Buehrle during the anniversary weekend celebration. Artwork honoring Pope Leo XIV was also unveiled near the seat from which he watched the 2005 World Series.
