Joey Gallo signs minor league contract with Chicago White Sox
Briefly

Joey Gallo, the former Yankees outfielder and first baseman, has signed a minor league deal with the Chicago White Sox, who have also invited him to spring training. Gallo struggled dramatically last season with the Nationals, batting just .161 with 10 home runs. Originally a standout with the Rangers, Gallo won two Gold Gloves and made two All-Star appearances but fell out of form following his trade to the Yankees. With the White Sox, Gallo is expected to compete for a spot at first base or potentially in the outfield after the team’s challenging previous season.
Gallo, 31, agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the White Sox, receiving a non-roster spring training invitation as he seeks a career revival.
After struggling with the Nationals, Gallo, once a promising player with the Rangers, will now compete for playing time with Andrew Vaughn at first base.
