Former Bruin Looking For Bounce-Back Year With White Sox
Briefly

As MLB Opening Day approaches, several former UCLA Bruins are expected on team rosters. Among them is Chicago White Sox pitcher Nick Nastrini, who had a difficult 2024 season. Drafted in 2021, Nastrini's path to the majors was long, but his debut was disappointing, finishing with a 7.07 ERA and zero wins. His earlier college performance indicated potential, yet command issues hindered his success in the big leagues. As he enters Spring Training, the White Sox hope for improvement as the team looks to bounce back from a dismal previous season.
Nastrini was selected by the White Sox in the fourth round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, taken 131st overall.
Unfortunately for him and the White Sox, not much went their way in 2024, losing a record-setting 121 games last season.
During his time at UCLA, he had a 4.72 ERA in 21 appearances, allowing 35 earned runs and striking out 95.
What Nastrini learned very quickly when making his MLB debut is that those kinds of numbers won't cut it in the big leagues.
