The Chicago White Sox have placed infielder Miguel Vargas on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain, recalled Curtis Mead from Triple-A Charlotte. Vargas felt discomfort during batting practice and although he initially thought it was minor, he later confirmed it was worse. The Sox lost a game against the Los Angeles Angels, with a dramatic finish where Angels' Taylor Ward hit a three-run home run after the Sox squandered a five-run lead. Starter Sean Burke had a strong performance but faltered in the sixth inning, allowing three runs.
"A little scramble, but that's what we do. It's all about adjustments," said Sox manager Will Venable, highlighting the team’s adaptability in facing challenges like Vargas’ injury.
"I didn't think it was anything crazy," Vargas said about his oblique strain, expressing optimism about his recovery. "I feel better than yesterday, for sure. I don't feel that bad. Hopefully I can come back soon."
