White Sox add a couple nonroster invitees: RHPs Corey Knebel and Dominic Leone. The Sox have 68 players in camp, including 28 NRIs. While there's no guarantee that either play makes the roster, there are certainly opportunities in the Sox' bullpen. Chicago finished fourth in the American League Central a season ago and is headed for a similar finish this season. They dealt away relievers Gregory Santos and Aaron Bummer this offseason, opening up even more opportunity.
Leone is a 10-year veteran who has played with the Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Guardians, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels. Lifetime, he's 22-23 with a 3.82 ERA. He pitched in 51 games last year for the Mets, Angels and Mariners, going 1-3 with a 4.67. As for Knebel, he's now 32-years-old and coming off a serious shoulder injury that cost him all of 2023. He has played parts of eight years in the big leagues with the Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies. Prior to injuries, he had a good run with the Brewers, appearing in 76 games in 2017 and making the All-Star Game. He saved 39 games that season.
