A 3.55 ERA is nice, but his 2.46 FIP backed it up. He struck out just under a third of the hitters he faced while walking just 4%, for 7.5 K/BB. Plus, Rodriguez also only surrendered one home run in the 33 innings he threw as part of his professional debut.
Rodriguez's performance demands an expanded role in 2024. If sticking as a swingman/long reliever, he'll be shipped Stateside to put his initial success to the test against better and more experienced competition. If transitioning to a starting role, he might get one more year in the DSL to adjust.
