Zac Gallen remains unsigned and has been connected to the Chicago Cubs for several weeks. At least one rival general manager believes the Cubs are the favorites to sign Gallen because they have payroll flexibility and could be creative to make a deal. That GM noted the Cubs are likely to lose three rotation pitchers to free agency next year. Some view Gallen as redundant for the Cubs; the Braves may fit better.
