Chris Flexen, who enjoyed pitching at Wrigley Field for the White Sox, reflects on the intense rivalry as he now plays for the Cubs. He recalls the challenging previous season, where the Sox faced record losses, but remains focused on the camaraderie with teammates. Flexen is excited for the upcoming City Series, expressing admiration for Chicago's passionate sports fans, while also acknowledging the struggles he faced with a 4.95 ERA. As he shifts teams, he anticipates an exciting rivalry experience, valuing connection over competition with his former teammates.
The biggest thing is you just see the city of Chicago come out and support their teams, no matter what side it's on, the blue might be a little stronger in the stands. It was a lot of fun.
I'm not much of a trash talker, more of a check in to see how you're doing.
Flexen led the Sox with 160 innings while appearing in 33 games, but posted a 4.95 ERA en route to the Sox's record 121 losses.
That's something that got me through that year and we had good guys over there, good teammates so you still pull for one another.
