Edward Cabrera Exits Early with Apparent Injury -
Edward Cabrera pitched three innings, allowing four runs with one earned, on four hits and two walks, while striking out two. He returned for the fourth inning and threw a fastball clocked at 92.5 mph before leaving the game. Craig Counsell and athletic trainer Nick Frangella were involved as Cabrera exited. Cabrera had been in communication with pitching coach Tommy Hottovy and the training staff during the bottom of the third inning, including briefly returning to the dugout before coming back for the next frame. The Cubs face concern about losing another starting pitcher.
"Edward Cabrera made it through three innings with four runs allowed (one earned) on four hits and two walks, striking out two as well. Then he came out for the 4th and threw one fastball at 92.5 mph before leaving the game with Craig Counsell and athletic trainer Nick Frangella."
"Cabrera had been talking with pitching coach Tommy Hottovy and the training staff in the bottom of the 3rd, even heading back out of the dugout for a bit before going back out for the next frame."
"Let's hope it's just a blister or something minor, because the Cubs can ill afford to lose yet another starting pitcher."
