Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (4/6/26): Rays 6, Cubs 4 - Tampa Powers Way to Victory -
"The home run in the 7th turned out to be the winning margin in the game."
"The hitters continued to struggle and the home run ball proved very costly."
"Not a bad effort for Taillon, who gave his team some innings: 6 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 4 K, and 0 BB."
"Now dealing with a pair of key pitching injuries, the Cubs need to step up offensively to pick up the slack."
The Cubs faced the Rays and lost 6-4, continuing their recent struggles. The pitching staff allowed three home runs while the Cubs managed only one. Chicago initially took a 2-0 lead with a two-run single from Nico Hoerner but quickly fell behind after a two-run homer by Cedric Mullins. The Cubs cut the deficit to 4-3 with a sacrifice fly but could not overcome a two-run shot by Jonathan Aranda in the 7th inning. Matt Shaw's solo homer in the 9th was insufficient to change the outcome.
