The Sox drew a small crowd of 5,364 to their home opener Saturday at Camelback Ranch, while the Cubs' spring opener against the White Sox on Friday at Sloan Park pulled in 13,332.
Weekends are typically a big sell in the Cactus League, but unfortunately for the Sox, they have only two more Saturday home games (March 16 and 23) and no Sunday home games... Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts emphasized the importance of being available to the media for fan insight.
