The nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, which installed the camera, highlighted the unique bond and personalities of the eagles. Jackie, who broke bald eagle mating norms, and Shadow have captivated audiences with their protective roles and familial dynamics, showcasing the intimate behaviors of these majestic birds.
"I was just so in awe and excited," said Sandy Steers, executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley, a nonprofit that works in San Bernardino National Forest and installed the live camera.
Together, Jackie and Shadow attracted droves of viewers who watched their lives unfold over the seasons. The appeal, Steers said, is their personality.
