Orlando Brown represents self to land 2-year Bengals extension
"It's as easy as walking up to [team president] Mike Brown and saying 'Hey, can we get this done?' Brown Jr. has been with the Bengals since 2023, when the team signed him to a four-year deal worth more than $64 million."
"You know to be honest, I think just kind of where we are in today's age of the NFL and also who I play for, I think representing myself made a lot of sense in this situation. Is this something I would do anywhere else? I don't know, to be honest with you."
"Brown, 29, has started 45 games with the Bengals in three seasons. Last year, he ranked 66th out of 68 tackles in pass block win rate as a tackle, an ESPN metric powered by Next Gen Stats."
Orlando Brown Jr., the Bengals' left tackle, negotiated and signed a two-year contract extension on his own initiative. The 29-year-old approached team president Mike Brown to discuss extending his deal, which was set to expire after the 2026 season. Brown credited his positive relationship with the organization for his decision to self-represent. Initial conversations about the extension began in February, with assistant general manager Steve Radicevic handling most negotiations. Brown has started 45 games for Cincinnati since joining in 2023 on a four-year, $64 million deal. The extension represents the Bengals' third major free agency move this offseason.
