Colts scout Chad Henry utilized his extensive experience to analyze first-round pick Tyler Warren, comparing him to Calvin Johnson's standout college performance. During a memorable game in 2006, Henry recognized Johnson's exceptional talent after only three plays. He described Warren's recent performance against USC as equally impressive, highlighting not just his statistics—17 catches for 224 yards—but also his overall contributions to the game's strategy, showcasing his versatility as both a receiver and a key player in critical offensive situations.
"I scouted him in three plays," Henry said. "He caught a standup screen and outran the Virginia Tech defense for 80 yards. He had a one-handed catch in the end zone on a fade where he made the corner look like a child."
That, Henry said, is how it felt while watching Warren lead Penn State past USC last October. It wasn't just Warren's stunning 17 catches or 224 receiving yards. It was the sum of his performance, contributing to the offense in almost every way.
