Ben Johnson has already begun preparing for the 2026 season and plans to prioritize chemistry between quarterback Caleb Williams and his pass catchers. Johnson said the team must do a better job catching the football and that catching will be a point of emphasis when players return in the spring. The Bears recorded 29 drops this season, the fifth-most in the NFL. Kyle Monangai led the team with six drops, Olamide Zaccheaus had five, and Luther Burden III and D'Andre Swift each had four. Players noted missed opportunities in the passing game, including Rome Odunze's red-zone drop that led to an interception in the divisional-round loss to the Rams. Johnson addressed the game-sealing overtime interception and assumed responsibility when questioned about receiver play.
