White Sox place INF Miguel Vargas on the 10-day IL with a left hand injury
Briefly

Miguel Vargas left in the fifth inning after stretching for a throw and was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left hand. The injury occurred while he was playing first base and his glove fell off as he crumpled to the ground; it appeared Aaron Judge's left leg struck Vargas' glove hand. Manager Will Venable said there is no break or fracture and that Vargas will rehab over the next few days with hopes of activation after 10 days. Vargas hit his first career grand slam and is batting .234 with 14 homers and 52 RBIs in 121 games. Center fielder Luis Robert Jr. is also on the IL with a left hamstring strain that could end his season; he had been batting .298 with five homers and 18 RBIs in his last 31 games. Rookie Colson Montgomery returned after missing two games with left side soreness and was praised for his power and physicality.
No break or fracture ... so he'll rehab over these next few days,
Obviously we put him on the IL, but hopeful that after his 10 days that he's close and has progressed to the point where we can activate him.
It's way better. I prayed for it to not have anything broken and be able to be here,
He's in a good spot, excited to be out there," Venable said. "He's one of our guys, and when you're down (Robert), you're down (Vargas), just to have a guy out there with power and physicality like Colson does, it's nice.
