Kane among those thrilled to see return of Toews
"I think it's awesome. Obviously with what he's been through, to be able to put himself in a position to come back and be feeling good, I think that's the most important thing."
"It could be really a great story for the NHL and for the franchise and for him and his family. So I'm excited about watching him."
"It's been almost 5 years of searching for a way to heal the inflammatory and immune system issues that took me out of hockey."
Jonathan Toews, 37, is attempting an NHL comeback with the Winnipeg Jets after not playing since April 2023 when the Chicago Blackhawks declined to re-sign him. He was limited by chronic inflammatory response syndrome and a bout with COVID-19 during his final two seasons. Toews signed a one-year deal with his hometown Jets in July and undertook a five-week Ayurvedic healing journey in India, saying things are trending toward improvement and that he was not fully retiring. Patrick Kane praised Toews' return, noted their close relationship after three Stanley Cups together, and expressed excitement to watch him play.
