This year marks the 20th anniversary of Death Cab for Cutie's album 'Plans,' which is celebrated with special concerts in August across Seattle, Chicago, and Brooklyn. The band will perform the album in its entirety, including major singles like 'Soul Meets Body,' 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark,' and 'Crooked Teeth.' According to frontman Benjamin Gibbard, this album was a pivotal moment in their career, being their major label debut that achieved platinum status and garnered GRAMMY nominations. Despite their busy schedule, the band emphasizes the importance of honoring this milestone while also working on new music.
"Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever-it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations," frontman Benjamin Gibbard said in a statement.
"We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we're currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion."
Death Cab for Cutie will play their 2005 LP Plans in full, including hits like 'Soul Meets Body,' 'I Will Follow You Into the Dark,' and 'Crooked Teeth.'
Death Cab for Cutie are coming off a very busy, and practically nonstop, live schedule, meaning Gibbard was pulling double duty each night, much to the delight of millennials everywhere.
