"EDGEWATER - After closing its Chicago location in 2022, La Mom Kitchen has returned in Edgewater. The Sichuan and Shanghainese restaurant serves a variety of dishes like boiled beef in chile sauce, twice-cooked pork, smashed eggplant with century egg, and fried fish with salted egg yolk. Weekday lunch specials, which include American Chinese favorites such as orange chicken and Mongolian beef, are available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m."
Chicago has several recent restaurant openings across neighborhoods. Le Shrimp Noodle Bar opened in Chinatown Square as the Singaporean chain's first Midwest outpost, offering shrimp-broth noodle bowls with prawns, chicken, and wontons plus rice bowls, chicken karaage, and chicken and prawn buns. La Mom Kitchen returned to Edgewater after closing its Chicago location in 2022, serving Sichuan and Shanghainese dishes with weekday lunch specials that include orange chicken and Mongolian beef. Cleo's opened a Lakeview location specializing in Southern and Creole-influenced dishes such as fried chicken, catfish, crab macaroni and cheese, and peach cobbler cheesecake. Guzman y Gomez launched a late-night Wicker Park location with burritos, tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and customizable bowls.
