Watford FC has signed 20-year-old US international left-back Caleb Wiley on loan from Chelsea, bolstering their defense as they fight for a playoff spot in the Championship. After recovering from a shoulder injury, Wiley joins the club having previously spent time on loan at French club Strasbourg but has not yet debuted for Chelsea. Watford's manager, Tom Cleverley, praised Wiley's athleticism and technical quality while also noting the recent transfers in and out of the squad this January.
Caleb's a really athletic left-back with great technical quality as you'd expect from a Chelsea player. It'll be a couple of weeks before we see him in training.
Watford have also signed Norway goalkeeper Egil Selvik and defender James Abankwah during the January transfer window, but Ken Sema and Festy Ebosele have left the club.
