Residents in Chelsea, Winthrop, and East Boston reported a pungent, gas-like odor that has raised health concerns, prompting investigation by local fire departments.
Former Chelsea resident Ashleigh Rossetti expressed frustration, stating, "You can't miss it. You're smelling something. It's not fresh clean air... it does more harm than anything."
Boston-based The Davis Companies claimed periodic odors during cleanup won't threaten the community, emphasizing that "public safety is our top priority" and they coordinate with officials.
Despite ongoing remediation at the former Exxon facility in Everett, Everett Fire Chief Joe Hickey asserted, "We don't have any readings... we haven't had any odors."
