Chelsea have now reached an agreement with Gremio for the 16-year-old attacker. Chelsea will pay a fee of around 24 million for the Brazilian prodigy and the player will sign a five-year contract with them with the option of extending for a further two years.
The Brazilian is highly rated in South America and he has a bright future. The 24 million investment could look like a major bargain if he manages to fulfil his potential with Chelsea in the coming seasons.
With the PSR regulations in place, Chelsea cannot afford to overspend on established players anymore. Signing talented young players and nurturing them into established stars is the right way forward.
Chelsea have not been at their best in recent seasons and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly and get back to the top of English football once again. Signing the best young players in the world will certainly help them grow.
