Chelsea are now open to letting midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka depart on loan this month, with reported interest from Borussia Dortmund seeking the 21-year-old's signature. Chukwuemeka has struggled for minutes under Blues boss Enzo Maresca, who indicated during the summer that he did not foresee a significant role for the midfielder this season. He hasn't featured in any Premier League matchday squad and has only amassed 130 minutes in cup competitions. Reports earlier had Chelsea only considering permanent offers for Chukwuemeka, whose contract has a 40m release clause; now, however, a loan move is being considered.
Chelsea is insisting that any loan for Chukwuemeka be a straight deal without a purchase clause, and that any suitor must cover his full salary. Borussia Dortmund is in discussions to secure Chukwuemeka's services, but Chelsea has alternative options, including a potential loan to their sister club Strasbourg, provided one of their three current loans there—Andrey Santos, Djordje Petrovic, or Caleb Wiley—is terminated.
