Alfie Gilchrist, the 20-year-old defender, is reportedly set to join Sheffield United on loan in the Championship to further his development under Chris Wilder.
Gilchrist, who made his debut with Chelsea last season and scored his first goal, needs playing time which Sheffield United offers, unlike Chelsea's crowded roster.
