Honda has unveiled the E-VO, a full-size electric motorcycle developed with Guangzhou Motorcycle Group, signaling a shift from its traditional focus on scooters and underbone motorcycles. The E-VO features a neo-retro design with modern performance components including a hub motor that delivers acceleration comparable to 150-250 cc petrol bikes. Battery options provide ranges from 120 km to 170 km, with charging times varying between 90 to 150 minutes. Despite its innovations, the motorcycle faces scrutiny over limited range and lack of DC fast charging capabilities.
The E‑VO impresses with its neo-retro flair, showcasing a sculpted half-fairing and round LED headlight reminiscent of vintage café racers, along with modern sporty features.
Power comes from an 8 kW hub motor, peaking at around 15-15.8 kW, accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in about 2.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 120 km/h.
The E‑VO offers battery options including a dual 4.1 kWh pack with a range of approximately 120 km, and a tri 6.2 kWh pack with a range of around 170 km.
Charging takes 90 minutes for the 4.1 kWh pack and 150 minutes for the 6.2 kWh pack, with criticism directed at the lack of DC fast charging.
