In November 2022, the New South Wales government introduced a new law which sees drivers fined up to $2200 for illegally parking in an electric vehicle charging spot.
Other states have also introduced fines for the act, with drivers in the ACT potentially fined up to $3,200, while in Queensland it could cost up to $2,875. In Victoria, misusing an electric vehicle charging space can cost drivers $369.
