The Volkswagen ID Buzz has gained attention for its nostalgic design and vibrant dual-tone color schemes. Senior VP of sales, Hein Schafer, highlighted that buyers overwhelmingly favor two-tone models, making single-color variants difficult to sell in the U.S. Due to production restrictions, more monochromatic vehicles have been shipped, resulting in longer lot times. To address this, VW is incentivizing dealers to invest in vibrant wraps, effectively splitting the costs to boost sales of the quirky electric bus, which is thought to better match its fun character.
Hein Schafer, Senior VP of sales in the U.S. for Volkswagen, stated that 'The single-tone vehicle doesn't sell as quick as the two-tone car,' indicating a significant preference for colorful options.
Schafer explained the situation with production restrictions causing more solid colors to ship to U.S. dealers, which has led to slower sales compared to vibrant two-tone variants.
