The Kia EV6 And EV9 Are Getting A Nice Charging Upgrade
"Owners of eligible 2025 Kia EV6 and 2026 Kia EV9 models will be able to just plug in a DC fast charger without having to mess with apps or cards every time. That's thanks to the implementation of Plug & Charge, which allows for a seamless charging experience, as long as a payment method has been set up properly beforehand."
"The Tesla Supercharger network and Electrify America are among the charging operators that support Plug & Charge. The 2025 Kia EV6 and 2026 Kia EV9 are the Korean automaker's first models with a native Tesla-style NACS charging port, which eliminates the need for a charging adapter at Tesla Superchargers and certain Electrify America stalls that are equipped with NACS connectors."
Eligible 2025 Kia EV6 and 2026 Kia EV9 models will receive Plug & Charge, allowing drivers to connect to compatible DC fast chargers without using apps or cards once a payment method is set in Kia's Charge Pass. Vehicle authentication and billing will occur automatically at supporting chargers such as Tesla Superchargers and certain Electrify America stalls equipped with NACS connectors. Both models include a native Tesla-style NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter at NACS-equipped stations. Most non-Tesla US DC fast chargers use CCS1 connectors, so owners may still require an adapter for those stations. Kia plans to deliver the feature to EV6 by the end of September and to EV9 by year-end and will notify owners when the update is available.
