Nissan's EV Strategy Hits Another Roadblock
Briefly

Nissan is experiencing challenges in the electric vehicle market and has delayed the production of two electric crossovers. The Nissan-branded crossover, codenamed PZ1K, is now set for production in November 2028, while the Infiniti PZ1J will start in March 2029. This decision follows a trend of slowing EV demand in the U.S., prompting Nissan to adjust its plans. The automaker's hesitation is influenced by changes in EV tax credits and market uncertainties.
Rather than stick to its plans of cranking out a pair of electrified crossovers for its Nissan and Infiniti brands, the Japanese automaker will kick the can down the road (yet again), this time by nearly a year.
A Nissan-branded crossover, codenamed PZ1K, now will begin production in November 2028, while a related vehicle for the Infiniti brand, codenamed PZ1J, is scheduled to begin in March 2029.
Nissan pinned the delay on 'recent slowing EV demand in the U.S.' and made a strategic decision to slightly adjust the production timeline.
As such, Nissan is playing it safe as the demand for EVs in the U.S. becomes less clear.
