Nissan is cutting production of its popular Rogue SUV by 13,000 units at its Kyushu plant from May to July, responding to recent US tariffs that impact imported vehicles. This adjustment highlights Nissan's vulnerability within the global automotive supply chain, especially as the US is its largest market. With a projected decrease of over 20% of first-quarter sales, the automaker is reassessing its operations to foster efficiency. President Trump's remarks on possibly revising the tariff could influence Nissan’s future decisions regarding production adjustments.
The planned cut is equal to more than a fifth of the 62,000 Rogues sold in the United States in the first three months of this year.
Nissan said in a statement it was reviewing its production and supply chain operations to identify optimal solutions for efficiency and sustainability.
