Mercedes Teases Its 500-Mile BMW i3 Sedan Rival
"Just as Mercedes-Benz unveiled its fully electric GLC, it also teased its sedan counterpart, the upcoming C-Class EV. The shadowy teaser shows a sleek sedan with a face very similar to the GLC's, complete with the same illuminated shield grille and daytime running light signature. The electric C-Class will share the 800-volt MB.EA platform (and likely the same 94-kilowatt-hour battery) with the GLC EV. However, because it's a lighter, more aerodynamic car, it will have more range and better performance."
"Mercedes-AMG will surely do its own versions of the C-Class EV to compete with the multiple M-badged BMW i3 variants that we expect to see. There may even be full-blown proper AMG versions complete with a widebody kit and ludicrous power output to match the upcoming electric BMW M3, which is getting up to four electric motors and possibly over 1,000 horsepower in top guise."
A shadowy teaser reveals a sleek C-Class electric sedan with an illuminated shield grille and daytime running light signature similar to the GLC EQ. The C-Class EQ will share the 800-volt MB.EA architecture and likely the same 94-kilowatt-hour battery, while a lighter, more aerodynamic sedan body should deliver greater range and improved performance. The GLC 400 4Matic EQ targets about 443 miles WLTP, and the C-Class could approach or exceed 500 miles in its most efficient single-motor form. Shared features include rear-axle steering, adjustable air suspension, and a 39.1-inch MB.OS infotainment display, with AMG variants expected to offer high-performance options.
