Enfield Council has secured an interim injunction to ban illegal car meets, empowering police to address dangerous driving and antisocial behaviour effectively. This action aims to protect residents from the disruptions caused by these gatherings.
Cllr Gina Needs emphasized the need for decisive action, stating that the court's decision highlighted the severe impact of these meets on community life, increasing noise and damaging public peace.
The injunction allows police to enforce strict measures against participants, with potential criminal sanctions, including arrest, to prevent these disruptive gatherings from occurring and to safeguard public safety.
Cllr Ergin Erbil noted that the granting of the injunction represents a significant move towards eliminating the negative consequences linked to car meets, with an emphasis on community collaboration for better enforcement.
