Ford Motor has accepted a hefty fine of up to $165 million for its failure to address and recall defective rearview cameras in a timely manner.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration emphasizes that timely recalls are crucial for road safety, as defective rearview cameras increase crash risks.
Under the agreement, Ford must pay $65 million immediately, while an additional $55 million is deferred, contingent upon improvements in defect identification and reporting.
Ford has committed to spending $45 million to enhance its data analysis capabilities and establish a new testing facility for rearview camera components.
