"a fight for our lives in our industry"
"How we compete here - how we innovate, partner, and invest - will write the playbook for the next generation. We are committed to a vibrant future in Europe, but that future requires us to move with greater speed and efficiency than ever before."
"As an American company, we see Europe as the frontline in the global transformation of our industry,"
Ford and Renault agreed to bring two affordable Ford-branded electric vehicles to the European market in 2028. Ford will lead vehicle design and Renault will assemble the EVs at its northern France factory using Renault's Ampere technology platform. The companies also agreed to explore jointly producing light commercial vehicles. The partnership forms part of Ford's next phase of European transformation to increase agility and cost efficiency amid pressure from cheaper Chinese automakers such as BYD and SAIC Motor. Ford described Europe as the frontline of the industry's global transformation and emphasized the need for greater speed and efficiency.
