The Red Car Trolley, which was introduced in 2012 as part of a major renovation at Disney California Adventure, will be closing in early 2025 to facilitate Disneyland's next expansion.
The trolleys provided a nostalgic journey through a recreated 1920s Los Angeles, connecting visitors to the history of Walt Disney's arrival and early dreams.
Imagineer Ray Spencer, who oversaw the trolley project, said it held a personal significance, recalling his father's last journey on the final Red Car line in 1961.
The Red Car Trolley featured genuine elements from the original Pacific Electric Railway, including battery power, overhead cables for authenticity, and replicated car horn sounds.
