BYD's passenger plug-in car sales reached 312,048 units in April, up 49% from a year ago. All-electric car sales were 134,465 (up 29%), while PHEVs were significantly higher at 177,583 (up 69%).
Exporting from China is a focus for BYD, with a record 41,011 plug-ins sold overseas in April, showing 177% growth year-over-year. Year-to-date passenger plug-in electric car sales have increased by 24% compared to last year.
In 2023, BYD sold over 3.0 million passenger plug-in electric cars, becoming the largest Chinese carmaker. The company aims for a yearly growth rate of over 20% in 2024.
