Jayda Hurtado, a 2025 college graduate, shares her worries about finding a job in today's challenging market. Although many graduates express confidence about their job prospects, with 83% believing they will find work soon, Hurtado has yet to secure an interview. The Monster report reveals 48% of graduates doubt they will land jobs at preferred organizations. Career expert Emily Levine notes that even highly educated candidates struggle, suggesting that many may need to accept less-than-ideal employment initially before achieving their career goals.
"I'm actually terrified. I probably have a good cry session about it maybe every two weeks," Hurtado said.
"If not, then it's a matter of having something to get me by before I get a big girl job," Hurtado said.
"It's a hard world out there for a lot of people who are not just highly educated, but have built these careers and have a trusted resume of previous experience."
"If you want to get a job somewhat quickly and start contributing and earning money, it most likely won't be your dream job. And that's okay."
